The Star Crochet Hat Pattern
This little hat is pure joy. A delicate mesh skullcap in fine cotton, finished with tiny metal stars crocheted right into the edge so they dangle sweetly across your forehead and catch the light when you move. It's giving nineties it girl, it's giving festival season, it's giving main character on a summer evening in the city.
The construction is lovely and simple. You start with a flat circle at the crown, increasing round by round until it fits the top of your head, then change direction and work an airy mesh stitch down to create the length. In the very last row you crochet the stars straight into your work, no sewing needed. I've photographed every single row so you can check your work against mine as you go, and I've included the stitch counts for each round so there's no guesswork.
This is a fab project for beginners ready to try working in the round, and a quick, satisfying make for seasoned crocheters. One 50 g ball is all it takes, so it's also perfect for using up leftovers from your other projects. I finished mine over a weekend and have barely taken it off since.
You'll need:
One 50 g ball of Sandnes Garn Tynn Line, a 1.5 mm hook, a measuring tape, and small metal stars (easy to find on Etsy).
Pop on 'All The Stars' by Kendrick Lamar and SZA, get your hook out, and enjoy.
Love, Olivia xx
